We service members in industries such as Aerospace, Truck Manufacturing, Automotive Repair, General Manufacturing and Public Employees throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington
The IAM’s mission is Service to the Community and Justice on the Job. Justice on the Job starts with organizing a union. Why join a union? Quite simply, there is strength in numbers. Statistics show that union members achieve higher wages, better benefits and more job security than their non-union counterparts.
About the IAM
The IAMAW, or International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers, was founded in 1888 in a railroad pit in Atlanta, Georgia. The IAM is composed of a number of District and Local Lodges, organized along regional and industrial lines, each with particular functions and responsibilities.
There are 1143 IAM Local Lodges in every region of the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and Panama. Lodges range in size from fewer than 100 members to more than 10,000.
The IAM is here to assist employees and groups who want to form a union. The IAM is also here to negotiate your first contract and provide you with all the services the IAM has to offer. Contact us today!
District W24 Lodge
District 24 was founded in 1974 and is comprised of three Local Lodges. We service members in industries such as Aerospace, Truck Manufacturing, Automotive Repair, General Manufacturing and Public Employees throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. In January of 2011, District 24 merged with Woodworkers District Lodge W1 and is now named District W24.
Woodworkers District Lodge W1, (formerly International Woodworkers of America, U.S.), is a division of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. We are a wood products labor union primarily representing members in logging, sawmills, plywood, particleboard, pole yards, sort yards, dock workers and tree farm operations. However, we are a diversified District representing workers in industries such as microbrew, manufacturing of styrofoam containers, prefab homes, and flight training for the Defense Industry. We also represent Service Industry Workers in the areas of Deputy Sheriffs, Corrections Support Staff, City Public Works Department, Prosecuting Attorneys, church employees and health care employees.
